NANA MORAES

Nana Moraes is a photographer born in 1963 in Rio de Janeiro. She graduated in Journalism from PUC University in São Paulo.

She is the director of Retrato Espaço Cultural, where she coordinates courses, workshops, and lectures at the Valda Nogueira Education Space. She is also the Training Coordinator of FotoRio.

Moraes has been working for over 30 years in the editorial, cultural, and advertising markets. She is a six-time winner of the Abril Journalism Award and was awarded by the Brazilian Advertising Association as “Destaque Profissional/Fotografia” in 2007 and 2011.

She has participated in several group exhibitions, including *The Image of the Sound of MPB* (2006) and *The Image of the Sound of Samba* (2008) at Paço Imperial, Rio de Janeiro, and *Eternal Feminine Plural* at the International Labour Organization in Geneva (2011).

In 2011, she published *Andorinhas*, by Nau Editora, Rio de Janeiro, the first book of the trilogy *DesAmadas*. The same year, she exhibited *Andorinhas* at Espaço Tom Jobim in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden and, in 2012, at the II Foto em Pauta Tiradentes.

In 2017, she exhibited *Ausência* at Centro Cultural Correios as part of the official program of FotoRio Encontro Internacional de Fotografia. That same year, she exhibited at Casa da Cultura de Paraty during the Paraty em Foco Festival.

In 2018, she exhibited *Absence* at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation during ABRASCO 2018 and participated in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In 2019, she received the Jorge Careli Human Rights Medal, in its 16th edition, promoted by the Union of Workers of Fiocruz (Asfoc-SN).
